Army Men: Air Attack 2 (2000) is the high-flying, explosive sequel that took everything people loved about the original helicopter spin-off and cranked it up a notch. Story & Premise: Plastro’s Plastic Revenge
The nefarious leader of the Tan Army, General Plastro, is back—and this time, he isn’t fighting alone. He has joined forces with a brilliant, dangerous new ally: Baron von Beige, a rogue Tan ace pilot who commands a lethal fleet of custom-built, retro-style fighter planes and airships.
Together, they have begun harvesting a new, volatile substance from the “Real World” known as Space Plastic to construct a super-weapon capable of melting the entire Green Army into soup.
The Air Cavalry Returns: You once again take control of Captain William Blade, leader of the elite Green Air Cavalry. Alongside a refreshed team of eccentric copilots, Captain Blade must pilot four advanced plastic combat helicopters across dangerous domestic battlegrounds to shoot down von Beige’s air armada, disrupt Plastro’s mining networks, and protect the free world from complete plastic annihilation.

Short Review: The Pinnacle of Late-Era PS1 Arcade Fun
The Good
- Stunning Late-Gen Graphics: For a game running on original PS1 hardware in late 2000, it looks fantastic. The frame rates are remarkably stable, explosions look huge and colorful, and the real-world scale of objects feels wonderfully immersive.
- Brilliant Setting Creativity: The level designs are incredibly imaginative. Flying through a massive toy store dodging rogue electric trains, navigating a backyard swamp filled with hostile plastic toy crocodiles, or fighting across a living room decorated for Halloween adds immense personality.
- Flawless Dual-Analog Controls: The circle-strafing flight mechanics feel incredibly tight, responsive, and satisfying to master, making it easy to weave through webs of incoming anti-aircraft fire.
The Bad
- Steep Late-Game Difficulty: The final handful of missions—especially the boss battles against Baron von Beige’s custom airships—feature massive difficulty spikes that require near-flawless dodging and strict weapon conservation.
- Cheesy, Repetitive One-Liners: While the fully voiced cutscenes give the game a fun B-movie action vibe, the voice lines spouted by your copilots mid-battle repeat far too frequently and can become quite annoying during long play sessions.
