Players can choose to control 4 different characters, including Barbie, Teresa, Christie, and Lea. The goal is to master two distinct sporting disciplines, conquer increasingly difficult obstacle-filled courses, and earn enough prize tickets to unlock new athletic gear and high-fashion sportswear.

- The Dual-Sport Split: The gameplay structure is cleanly divided into two entirely separate athletic disciplines:
- Inline Skating: Set in warm, coastal resort environments. Players race along paved boardwalks, dodge sunbathers, weave through park benches, and use half-pipes to launch into the air.
- Snowboarding: Set in frozen alpine peaks. This mode emphasizes momentum management as you carve through deep snow, navigate icy caverns, and slide down long wooden grind rails.
- Trick and Stunt Engine: Landing a basic race finish isn’t enough to fully complete the game. Tracks are littered with ramps and jumps. While mid-air, players use button combinations to execute spins, front flips, and specialized grabs. Successfully landing tricks builds a multiplier that increases your overall score.
- Resort Shop Progression: Scattered across the race tracks are sparkly ticket icons. Collecting these tickets serves as the game’s economy. Between races, players can visit a changing room to buy new sportswear, safety helmets, and upgraded boards or skates that improve speed and handling stats.

The Good
- Perfect Entry-Level Controls: The game does a great job of making extreme sports highly accessible. The steering physics are incredibly forgiving, and pulling off cool-looking tricks requires simple, well-timed button taps rather than the complex inputs of games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater or SSX.
- Vibrant, Uplifting Atmosphere: The visual presentation is bright, colorful, and highly faithful to the Barbie brand aesthetic. The upbeat, cheerful pop soundtrack perfectly complements the lighthearted vacation vibe.
The Bad
Primitive 3D Clipping: Released late in the PS1’s lifecycle, the game pushes the hardware limits with its 3D character models. This occasionally results in funny visual glitches, such as Barbie’s hair clipping cleanly through her helmet or her snowboard passing straight through solid snowbanks.
Very Brief Experience: With only two sports and a small handful of tracks per discipline, a seasoned player can easily blast through the entire tournament circuit and unlock all items in just a couple of hours.
