📖 Story & Premise: Reality TV Showdown
The Mystery Inc. gang faces a highly unique modern challenge: corporate competition. The popularity of their ghost-hunting business has caught the attention of a highly cynical television network, which launches a rival reality TV program called Ghost Hunters Inc. led by a smug, high-tech investigator named Dr. Phineas Phibes.
The Ultimate Debunking Contest: To determine who is the true master of the paranormal, both teams enter a highly publicized competition across five notoriously haunted locations. Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby must navigate old hotels, abandoned mines, and swampy bayous to collect hard physical clues, expose the crooks hidden beneath the monster masks, and secure their television ratings before Phibes’ corporate team can rig the contest.

⚙️ Key Gameplay Features
- Diverse Character-Specific Mechanics: The core loop branches into different playstyles depending on which member of the gang you control:
- Scooby & Shaggy segments: Classic third-person platforming where you collect Scooby Snacks, find hidden clue items, and run away from ghouls using a dynamic “Fear Meter.”
- Velma segments: Brain-teasing mini-games and logical hacking puzzles used to decipher coded messages or restore power to ancient machinery.
- Fred & Daphne segments: Environmental manipulation, quick-time action triggers, and trap construction.
- High-Velocity Driving Stages: Interspersed between the platforming levels are fully realized driving sequences. Players take the wheel of The Mystery Machine from a third-person racing perspective. You must drift around obstacles, gather fuel pick-ups, and chase down fleeing suspects or monsters before they escape the map boundaries.
- Authentic Voice Acting & Scripting: Savage Entertainment secured the professional voice actors of the era—including Frank Welker as Fred and Scooby, and Casey Kasem as Shaggy. This gives the game an incredibly authentic atmosphere, complete with classic running gags, laugh tracks, and dramatic unmasking cutscenes at the end of every episode.
- Clue Gathering Logic: You can’t just stumble into an unmasking. Each level requires players to explore thoroughly to find three distinct physical clues. Collecting these clues allows Velma to construct a definitive hypothesis profile, mapping the suspect’s motive directly to the supernatural phenomenon.
⭐ Short Review: A Cartoon Come to Life with Minor Repetition
The Good
- Superb Cartoon Immersion: The graphical presentation on the PSP is wonderfully expressive. The character models are fluid, the level themes match the eerie-yet-whimsical tone of the cartoon perfectly, and having the original voice cast makes the experience feel like an interactive television season.
- Engaging Variety: Swapping seamlessly between platforming, puzzle-solving, and arcade driving keeps the pacing fresh and prevents the gameplay from getting stale over the course of the story.
The Bad
- Basic Platforming Controls: While functional, the jumping mechanics can sometimes feel slightly floaty and imprecise. Judging distances on vertical platforms during the Scooby segments can lead to accidental drops.
- Repetitive Mini-Games: The puzzle varieties used during Velma’s clue-solving sequences are repeated a bit too frequently across the five episodes, which might test the patience of older players looking for deep mechanical depth.
