Kanuchi: Futatsu no Tsubasa (2010) is a unique “Blacksmithing Otome” game developed by Vingt-et-un Systems and published by Idea Factory under their Otomate label. It is an expanded PSP port/remake that combines two previous titles (Shiroki Tsubasa no Shou and Kuroki Tsubasa no Shou) into one massive experience.
The “Dual-Soul” Heroine
The story is unique because you essentially play as two women in one body:

Aki: An ordinary, hardworking village girl who moves to the city to become a blacksmith to pay for her grandfather’s medicine.

Kayana: The legendary “War Goddess” and ancient Queen of Takamahara who died 2,000 years ago. Her spirit possesses Aki, and the two must share a body while navigating modern politics and ancient grudges.

Unlike many Otome games that are 100% reading, Kanuchi features a deep gameplay loop centered around Aki’s profession.

Massive Roster: The game features about 12 potential love interests, split between the two warring nations. This includes the serious royal bodyguard Klato, his vengeful twin Akuto, and the mysterious “Star Reader” Mitoshi.

The “Reset” Mechanic: About halfway through the game, the story takes a dramatic turn where Aki is whisked away to the rival nation, effectively resetting your progress with certain characters and forcing you to navigate new relationships.

The Bad

Narrative Whiplash: The late-game twists are notorious for being nonsensical. Some routes involve unexpected time travel, “zombie” reveals, and bizarre character personality shifts that can feel unearned.

High Grinding: If you want to craft the best “God-tier” swords, you will spend a lot of time digging in the same 3D environments, which can become repetitive.

The “Shadow” Problem: Because Kayana is so charismatic, some players feel the male leads fall in love with the Goddess inside Aki rather than Aki herself, which can feel a bit discouraging for the main heroine.
