WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 (2010) is the seventh and final installment under the SmackDown vs. Raw brand before THQ rebranded the franchise to WWE. Developed by Yuke's and published by THQ, the handheld PSP version delivers impressive feature parity with the PS2 release, introducing the physics-based environment interactions of WWE Universe Mode and an expanded Road to WrestleMania campaign directly on portable hardware.
⚙️ Core Mechanics & Gameplay Features
Dynamic WWE Universe Mode: Replaces the static Exhibition and GM modes with a dynamic career system. The game automatically books daily match cards, tracks rivalries, triggers random cutscenes/interfering attacks, and dynamically manages championship contenders based on match outcomes.
Physics-Based Object Interactions: Weapon mechanics were completely overhauled. Tables, ladders, and chairs react dynamically to impacts:
🪵 Tables: Break dynamically based on impact force rather than set canned animations.
🪜 Ladders: Can be leaned against ring ropes, set across barricades, or used as weapons mid-air.
Free-Roam Road to WrestleMania: Features five branching storylines (Christian, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, and the Vs. Undertaker streak campaign). For the first time, players can walk around backstage areas, interact with WWE Superstars, accept side quests, and start backstage brawls before matches.
Expanded Creation Suite: Features Create-a-Finisher (adding corner/top-rope options), Create-a-Superstar, Create-an-Entrance, and Create-a-Paint Tool.
Ad-Hoc Wireless Multiplayer: Play local 1v1, tag team, and multi-man matches over Ad-Hoc wireless.
⭐ Short Review: A Strong Sendoff for the SvR Era
The Good
Dynamic Replay Value: WWE Universe Mode provides near-infinite single-player replayability with unpredictable rivalries and cutscenes.
Realistic Object Physics: Environmental weapon mechanics make Ladder, TLC, and Extreme Rules matches significantly more creative and chaotic.
The Bad
Hardware Limitations: The PSP version lacks the online community creations/match-sharing features available on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Backstage Load Times: Free-roaming in Road to WrestleMania causes frequent UMD loading screens between backstage hallway transitions.
