Yarudora Portable is a series of cinematic visual novels that originated on the PlayStation 1 and were ported to the PSP in 2005. The name Yarudora is a contraction of “Yaru Dorama” (Drama that You Do), highlighting the series’ focus on high-quality, full-motion anime by the legendary studio Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell).
Series Overview
The “Classic Four” entries follow a thematic pattern based on the four seasons and a recurring trope: a mysterious girl with amnesia enters the protagonist’s life.

The Completion Meter: Every game tracks your “Completion Rate” from 0% to 100%. Seeing every scene and ending is a core part of the challenge.

Bad Endings Galore: A typical entry has 20–30 endings. While there are a few “Good” and “Normal” paths, the “Bad” endings range from hilarious jokes to brutal, sudden deaths (especially in Double Cast and Yukiwari no Hana).

Mercy Mode: If you fail repeatedly, the game unlocks a Hint Marker feature that subtly points out which choices lead to a better outcome.
2026 Translation Status
Historically, these were Japan-only titles, but the fan-translation scene has made massive strides:

Spotlight: The “Must Plays”
Double Cast (The Fan Favorite)
You play as a member of a university film club. You find a girl named Mitsuki in the trash and cast her as the lead in your “cursed” movie. It starts as a rom-com but quickly spirals into a psychological slasher flick. It is widely considered the best entry in the series.
Sampaguita (The Action Thriller)
Set in a gritty urban environment, you find a Filipino girl named Maria being hunted by the Chinese Mafia. It features much more action and “life-or-death” decision-making than the other entries.
Blood: The Last Vampire (The “Lost” Vol. 5)
There is a 5th Yarudora Portable title based on the Blood: The Last Vampire anime. It uses the same engine but features a much darker, supernatural combat focus and was developed to coincide with the movie.
