This is a comprehensive community project that aims to fix the limitations of the original 2005 PSP port (which was missing content from the PC/PS2 versions) and turn it into the “ultimate” handheld Battlefront experience.

Key Improvements over the Original PSP Version:

  • Restored Maps: Adds almost all maps from the original Battlefront I (2004) and the missing maps from the console version of Battlefront II (like Utapau and Coruscant).

  • Improved AI: Increases the bot count per team from the original limit of 10 up to 16 or even 32 (though 32 is recommended for emulators like PPSSPP rather than actual PSP hardware).

  • New Heroes & Units: Adds characters that weren’t in the original game, such as Captain Rex, Ahsoka Tano, and Asajj Ventress (ported from the Xbox DLC).

  • Enhanced Visuals: Features higher-resolution textures for troopers and vehicles, and a revamped HUD (Head-Up Display) that is cleaner and less intrusive.

  • Modern Controls: Often paired with plugins that allow the use of the Right Analog Stick (if playing on a PS Vita or Emulator), fixing the biggest complaint about the original PSP controls.

Short Review: Modded vs. Original

The Good (Remastered Mod)

  • The Content: It finally makes the PSP version feel like a full game. Having the Battlefront 1 maps (like Bespin Platforms) on a handheld is a dream for series fans.

  • The Polish: The new weapon models and skins make the game look years ahead of other PSP shooters.

The Bad

  • Technical Strain: If played on an actual PSP 1000/2000/3000, the higher bot counts and textures can cause the frame rate to dip significantly.

  • Installation: Since it is a mod, it requires you to “patch” your own legally owned ISO file, which can be technical for casual players.
