Iron Man (2008), developed by Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M), was released alongside the blockbuster film that launched the MCU. While the console versions attempted an open-flight approach, the PSP version is a mission-based third-person shooter that focuses more on linear corridor combat and tactical suit management.
Game Story & Premise
The game follows the plot of the first Iron Man movie but expands the lore by including classic comic book villains like Titanium Man and Madame Masque.

Suit Customization: After each mission, you earn “Tech Points” to upgrade different parts of the suit:

Core: Increases energy capacity for the Unibeam.

Repulsors: Improves firing speed and damage.

Plating: Increases health and defense.

The Power Diverter: A unique mechanic where you can shift power between Shields, Weapons, and Thrusters.

Low on health? Divert all power to Shields.

Short Review: Iron Handheld
The Good

Authenticity: It features the voice of Robert Downey Jr. (in some versions/assets) and captures the “clunk and whirr” sound design of the movie armor perfectly.

The Hulkbuster: Being able to play as the Hulkbuster on a handheld in 2008 was a major highlight for fans.

The Bad

The Camera: Like many PSP action games, managing the camera during flight can be frustrating, as the D-Pad is often used for targeting or camera adjustment.

Repetitive Objectives: Most missions boil down to “Destroy X number of tanks” or “Fly to point A and press a button.”

Visuals: The textures are quite muddy, even by PSP standards, making some of the industrial environments look very similar.
