What makes the “Kai HD Edition” different?
Since this was a “Remaster” rather than a remake, the core gameplay remains identical to the Original version, but it leverages the PS3’s hardware for several quality-of-life upgrades:
1. Visual & Audio Overhaul
-
HD Graphics: The character sprites and 3D backgrounds are rendered in high definition. While the assets are the same as the PSP, they are much crisper, and the “watercolor” textures of the Liberl Kingdom pop more on a TV screen.
-
Remastered BGM: The game features a higher-quality audio bit-rate. The Blu-ray disc also famously included the entire 59-track soundtrack as a digital bonus that could be installed to the PS3’s hard drive.
2. PSP Cross-Save (Transfarring)
-
You can import your save data from the PSP version to the PS3 to continue your journey on the big screen.
-
Conversely, you can move your PS3 save back to the PSP for gaming on the go. This was a huge feature for fans who had already sunk 50+ hours into the handheld version.
