Tony Hawk’s Underground 2: Remix (2005) is considered one of the finest launch titles in the PlayStation Portable’s entire library. Developed by Neversoft and ported by Shaba Games, it delivers the full, unfiltered console experience of THUG 2 onto a handheld—while actually packing more content than its home console counterparts.

🛹 Story Campaign & The “Remix” Exclusives

The main campaign follows the chaotic World Destruction Tour. You get kidnapped alongside other top pros and forced into an all-out rivalry tour split into two teams led by Tony Hawk and Bam Margera. Whichever team scores the fewest points doing stunts and pranks has to pay for the entire world trip.

⚙️ Core Mechanics & Game Modes

  • Classic Mode: In addition to Story Mode, Remix features the nostalgic 2-minute timer mode from THPS 1–3. You hunt for S-K-A-T-E letters, find secret tapes, and hit high score benchmarks across retro levels like School, Downhill Jam, Canada, and Airport.
  • Expanded Moveset: Features all signature THUG 2 mechanics, including Sticker Slaps, Natas Spins, Cavemans (dismounting your board to run on foot), and Focus Mode (slow-motion precision tricks).
  • Wireless Multiplayer: Supports up to 4-player local Ad-Hoc multiplayer featuring modes like Trick Attack, Graffiti, Combo Mambo, and Slap!

⭐ Short Review: A PSP Masterpiece

The Good

  • Incredible Performance: Runs at a buttery-smooth 60 frames per second with graphics that rival the PS2 version.
  • Loaded with Content: With 13 Story levels, classic throwback maps, deep character creation, and custom soundtrack options, it offers dozens of hours of gameplay.

The Bad

  • Single-Analog Steering: Controlling skater rotation with the d-pad or analog nub takes a brief adjustment period compared to dual-stick console pads.
