Final Fantasy: 20th Anniversary Edition (2007) is the definitive high-definition remake of the 1987 masterpiece that saved Square from bankruptcy. Story & Premise
The world is shrouded in darkness. The winds have died, the seas are turbulent, and the earth is rotting. According to an ancient prophecy, four Warriors of Light will appear, each carrying a darkened Crystal.
The Plot: You lead these four heroes as they seek to restore light to the Crystals by defeating the four Elemental Fiends. The journey eventually reveals a deeper temporal mystery involving the knight Garland and a 2,000-year time loop. It is the quintessential “hero’s journey” that established every trope of the genre, from airships to the legendary Bahamut.
