Key Gameplay Mechanics

The Spell Wheel: As you attend classes (like Charms or Defense Against the Dark Arts), you permanently unlock spells. Use Lumos to light dark corners and scare away Devil’s Snare, or Immobilus to freeze troublesome pixies.
Potion Brewing: Collect ingredients throughout a level (like a spider, a flower, and a bone) to brew specialized potions. The Polyjuice Potion is essential, as it allows you to transform into any unlocked character to access their unique abilities.

Short Review: A Portable Hogwarts

The Good

Atmosphere: The game features the actual music from the films by John Williams, which adds an incredible layer of authenticity to the handheld experience.
Replay Value: Like all LEGO games, you can’t see everything on your first pass. Returning to levels in “Free Play” with a Death Eater or a Strong character is necessary to achieve 100% completion.
Perfect for PSP: The fixed camera angle and shorter level segments make it much easier to play on a small screen compared to the 3rd-person console version.

The Bad

Loading Times: Transitioning between Diagon Alley and the levels can be quite slow on original UMD hardware.
Simplified Hub: Unlike the PS3 version’s sprawling, seamless Hogwarts, the PSP version uses a more contained mission-select style, which can feel a bit less “magical” to some fans.
