Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Tag Force Special (2015) is the seventh and final entry in the legendary Tag Force series. Released exclusively in Japan as a digital-only title for the PSP (long after the Vita had launched), it serves as a massive “Greatest Hits” for the franchise, spanning all five anime generations from Duel Monsters to ARC-V.

  • Language Note: This game never received an official Western release. However, it is famous for its English Fan Translation Patches, which as of 2026 are highly polished, covering 100% of cards and nearly all story content.

The Ultimate Card Pool

This game was a dream come true for deck builders at the time, featuring over 7,000 cards.

  • Card Coverage: Includes cards up to the Secrets of Eternity booster pack (early 2015).

  • Mechanics: It is the only Tag Force game to include Pendulum Summoning, alongside Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, and Xyz.

  • Traditional Packs: Unlike previous games that had unique in-game packs, this title uses real-world OCG (Official Card Game) pack names and distributions, making it easier for fans to know where to find specific archetypes.

The Story Mode: Five Eras

Instead of one continuous plot, you choose a “Partner” from one of the five anime series. Each era has 5 “Tier 1” partners with full story arcs:

  1. DM: Yugi, Kaiba, Joey, Mai, Ishizu.

  2. GX: Jaden, Cyrus, Alexis, Chazz, Zane.

  3. 5D’s: Yusei, Jack, Akiza, Crow, Kalin.

  4. ZEXAL: Yuma, Shark, Kite, Rio, Kotori.

  5. ARC-V: Yuya, Zuzu, Gong, Sora, Shay.

Secrets & Cheats

Because the game can be a massive grind for DP (Duel Points) and rare cards, many players use CWCheat codes on the PSP or PPSSPP emulator.

Unlockables

  • Duel Statue: Located in the shop, you can offer “JP” (earned by playing) to the statue to unlock specific booster packs or high-level cards early.

  • Recipe Import: If you have a save file from Tag Force 6, you can import your recipes and some cards to get a head start.

Short Review: The End of an Era

The Good

  • Masterful Content: Having characters from all five shows in one game is incredible fan service.

  • Pendulum Introduction: It was the first time fans could play with Pendulums in a Tag Force setting, adding a fresh layer to the classic gameplay.

  • Speed: On the PSP, the duels flow much faster than in the Legacy of the Duelist games, with snappy animations and quick AI turns.

The Bad

  • Budget Presentation: Because it was a late-life digital release, the 3D character models and environments from Tag Force 6 were removed. Interactions now take place over 2D backgrounds, making it feel slightly less immersive.

  • Lack of 3D Animations: There are no 3D monster summoning cutscenes (like Blue-Eyes or Stardust Dragon), which was a staple of the earlier entries.
